The project envisages the seamless extension to the existing emblematic building of the 1960s and the interweaving of the existing part with its complementary counterpart. The new building wings keep the height of the historic building and encompass, along with the existing building part, an oasis - a place of meeting, conversation, and escape for employees at the core of the complex.
The remodeling of the existing building, the synthesis of the extension, and the interconnection between the existing and the new part of the building intend to create a cohesive complex and to provide fluent circulation from wing to wing around a covered atrium.
The new facade design corresponds to the prevailing physiognomic characteristics of the existing building facade - a composite structure of horizontal and vertical shading concrete elements.
A refined external shading structure, derived from the existing one, shapes the identity of the new extension. It is at the same time an element of connection and differentiation between new and old.
The interventions in the existing building aim to create an aesthetic and functional interconnection between the existing part of the building and the new extension.
The two 5-storey volumes of the building will be retained. All lower volumes will be demolished, so that the new extension can be inseparably attached to the existing 5-storey wings.
